Environmental Protection Policy

LEMISSOLER’s highest priority is in the conservation and protection of the environment.  The Company encourages all personnel to be environmentally conscious and acknowledges its responsibilities to undertake every possible action to prevent pollution, as required by National and International Rules and Regulations and legislation in force.

Implementation of the Environmental Protection Policy

The Designated Person Ashore (DPA) ensures that the Environmental Protection Policy is implemented and monitored.

The Company implements its policy onboard it’s ships by ensuring that sea personnel follow the procedures for safe ship operation to:

  • prevent all kinds of pollution, and to
  • have contingency plans ready to combat pollution.

The Master of the vessel is responsible to be fully aware of, to implement and to monitor and to review the Company's Environmental Protection policy, having due regard to the existing circumstances and conditions' for the preservation of life, the vessel and the environment. The Master may exercise his overriding authority regarding environmental protection aspects.

The Company will constantly review its Environmental Protection Policy and make the necessary amendments to conform with relevant new legislation and new developments. Amendments to the Environmental Protection Policy will be made available to all Company personnel and procedures will be updated as necessary.

To control and monitor the implementation, maintenance and improvement of its Environmental Protection policy, LEMISSOLER maintains procedures to include:

  • Shipboard Monitoring
  • Shore based Monitoring

Shipboard Monitoring of Environmental Protection Policy

  • Investigating and reporting to the office, the findings of all incidents regarding pollution.  
  • Reporting to the office all deficiencies regarding pollution prevention equipment/appliances/materials.
  • Carrying out pollution prevention drills at scheduled intervals.
  • Verifying compliance with Environmental protection prevention by means of checklists and logbooks entries.

Shore based monitoring of Environmental Protection Policy

  • Reviewing of the ship's reports, draw conclusions and take appropriate actions.
  • Reviewing and analysing pollution incidents. 
  • Reviewing the Environmental protection policy and acknowledging to the vessel any updating and/or revisions. 
Monitoring and verifying compliance by onboard inspections and taking actions based on findings.
