ABS has issued Approval in Principle (AIP) to Lemissoler Navigation for their 65,000 DWT cutting-edge methanol Utramax LEM 65e+ Dual Fuel design.

The adoption of the dual fuel methanol engine signifies Lemissoler’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of maritime operations. This small yet powerful shift aligns with global efforts to create an eco-friendlier shipping industry.

The unveiling of the vessels will take place by ABS at their Marintec Expo Shanghai stand on the 6th of December 2023, setting a new standard for cleaner and more efficient maritime transportation.

Using ABS’s formal hull optimization service ECO Lines, the hull lines were extensively refined using leading-edge computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation technology using numerical analysis and data structures, parametric modelling, and systematic optimization for well-researched and actual operating profiles.

After the successful results and the positive feedback from the LEM59, the new design is still equipped with a high-efficiency MAN Kappel propeller and a Propeller Boss cap Fin (PBCF). Additionally, the LEM65 is fitted with an asymmetric fan duct. This is fitted in front of the propeller to improve further the propulsion efficiency and to avoid the complex structure of an asymmetric stern and a rudder with a vortex-reducing bulb.
